Elton's Day Out

Mother Nature has finally blessed us with some gorgeous days.  So, I thought it would be a good opportunity to take Elton to one of the girl's soccer games today.  It was Elton's first real journey outside and there were loads of new sights, sounds and smells.  I thought he might be a little nervous but I didn't really see any nervousness.  He enjoyed watching the girls and the soccer ball race down the field.  He was wonderful with all the new people he met.  And, he was great with the dog that he met.  Laia was adopted from Fluffy Dog Rescue about three years ago.  She was at the soccer game with her family.  Elton was so happy to see Laia and he approached her submissively.  He wanted to play, she did not, and he respected that and eventually laid down besides her in the shade.  It was so cute to see the two of them together.  Both little dogs made their way from kill-shelter in Alabama to be here in Illinois on this beautiful day.

Everyone who met him loved him (how could you not).  He was very good about sitting on my lap or sitting in the shade.  He did not bark and did not get hyper with all the activity going on around him.  A few people commented that he was so calm.  Now, I share that comment with you but he is only 3 months and he will grow, mature and change.  Will he always sit so nicely at a public function like that...I'm not sure.  But, gosh he did great today.

Tomorrow is Elton's three month birthday.  We weighed him today and he came in at 7 pounds.  The general rule of thumb is that a dog's adult weight will be double its 4 month weight.  So, he's got another month to go before we can double it.  He might end up being a 15 pound adult dog.  Momma was a Yorkie mix, dad was a mystery.  But, no matter what his lineage he sure is cute!

It looks like Elton will be staying with our family and that's good because we just love him.  He was going to go back to his original foster mom after she got back from vacation but we are playing musical foster homes here in Illinois and my mom's foster was just adopted yesterday so she'll be taking him...and I'm sure she'll love him just as much as well do.  He will be in St Charles, IL.

Enjoy some pictures and video from today.

I took Elton to the game in this little carrier.  He did really well and did not fuss at all.  He was good in the car.

Intently watching the ball

Meeting Laia (Adopted from Fluffy Dog in 2013)

He was submissive to her

They both settled in the shade

Such a handsome boy

He is getting fluffy.  You can see the fluffy whisps around his face and body.  He does shed .  His eye looks funny in the picture but trust me it's all fine.  It can be hard to photograph a black faced dog
