Besse might have some Border Collie in the mix

I do think that Besse has some herding breed in her.  Possibly Border Collie.  At 17 pounds she is small so she's obviously mixed with something else.  In all likelihood she's a mix of a mix.

She has the black and white coloring.  The white is down her chest.  She has the "feathering" on the back of her legs and as her hair is growing out she is a becoming more fluffy.  When Besse came to Fluffy Dog Rescue her hair was shaved.  It is growing out now and she is becoming more cute each day.

Border Collies are described as demanding and energetic.  Besse can be demanding at times.  When she wants attention she will bark.  She will sometimes tug at your clothes or at your heels.   Those are herding traits.  The herding dog is trying to get you to do what it wants you to do.

Above this however, there is a great intelligence and athleticism.  Besse used to bark and jump up as I was getting her food ready.  She is smart and quickly understood that I would reward her with little bits of food if she sat quietly.  Now she waits nicely while I get it ready.  I've also trained her to sit and wait when I put her food down.  When she sits and then gives me eye contact I then tell her it's "okay" to start eating.

Also, she's easily trainable and athletic.  As you'll read I've worked with her just a few minutes here and there on agility equipment and she's done very well.  She really enjoys the jumps and tunnels.  She athletic but not over the top with energy.  We walk about 1 mile each morning and after that she's good about resting most of the day.  By evening time she definitely gets tired.  She's very cute and will go and put herself to bed.  She likes to sleep in the dog bed in our bedroom.

This morning we woke up and  let the dogs out and fed them.  Normally we would go on our walk right away.  I had one of those mornings though where I just couldn't get going and the bed was calling my name.  So, back to bed I went and Besse was so good and cuddled up with me for 2 hours.

Besse is great with everyone in our family.  She's even good with the friends my girls have over to our house.  When Besse first came to our house she would submissively urinate when my husband bent down to pick her up but that's no longer the case.  She cuddles between us when we're watching TV.  She is fine with everyone in our household.

Besse is great with all our dogs.  She is playful with our two poodles and is respectful with our 14 year old sheltie.  Last week I took Besse and our male poodle-mix, Miles, to the tennis courts. They had a great time running around for 10 minutes.  Tennis courts are a great place for dogs to have some playtime when there's no time to go to the dog park.  Before Besse came to our house she stayed at the doggie daycare.  She did well there and had a great time playing with the other dogs.  If I had to pick a home for Besse I would select one with another dog or one with an active owner.
Sitting nicely while I prepare breakfast

No kidding...Besse likes to be held like a baby.  When my girls scoop her up she will flop onto her back like this.
